It has 27 rooms that can
accommodate at least 2 girls per room. The total number of girls
that can be accommodated is thus 60.
12 bathrooms in the centre 5
girls per bathroom
16 toilets which means that there
will be 1 toilet for 4 girls.
1 dining room that is big enough to
accommodate all the girls.
1 Kitchen.
1 Lounge.
An area where they can do their
home work.
1 Sick Bay.
1 Library
1 Office
Quarters for the caretaker and the
cook.
An area to relax in (a garden)
surrounded by the bedrooms.
ii.
The area accommodating the staff
We have a semi-detached house each
with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge and a
bathroom.
iii.
Play area
We purchased a property measuring
991 sq meters next this one for recreational purposes. The girls can
play there, do gardening etc in this area.
iv. Working area
A laundry room measuring 5000 x
5610.
A store room measuring 4400 x 3000
One outside toilet.
2 Spare rooms that can be used for
anything activity.
A tool room can also be used for
other purposes.
A garage
A shed measuring 10300 x 6400.
A hall 10300 x 7000.
The pupils will be for girls only. They will only
be accepted after having been at our Madressa for at least four (4)
years and having passed every year. Their behavior, performance,
conduct, manners, character etc will be taken into consideration
before they will be considered to be registered at the centre. They
will attend the local school for their secular education and will
return to the centre after school where they will continue with
their Islamic education.
Having passed grade 12, we will consider sending
them for further tertiary education of their choice.
We have also been given the use of a supermarket
building to start a Madressa for the local people. Dawah work will
have to be done as there are no Muslims amongst the indigenous
people of the area.
The day to day running of the centre will be done
by a committee of ardent and dedicated Muslims chosen from and by
the community in Perdekop and Volksrust. Their contribution will be
most critical in the formation of these girls into Islamic role
models.
The centre was established to accommodate those
girls from our local Madaaris who have already passed their class 4
(at our Madaaris) and knows all the basic laws of Islaam, can read
the Quraan, know a fair amount of Duas and Surahs and can already
perform all the Salaahs. They will be housed at this centre and only
be allowed to go home once a year during the June holidays.
They will:
i.
Get secular schooling to enhance their education and allow
them at a later stage to attend a college, university, any other
institution or to start work.
ii.
They will attend advanced Islamic classes at the centre to
enhance their religious knowledge.
iii.
They will live in an Islamic atmosphere so that they can
develop an Islamic identity which they will hopefully take home
after having completed their stay at the centre.
iv.
We hope that by being schooled in an Islamic atmosphere, they
will take their behaviour pattern, their dress code and their
attitude (all Islamic) home to set an example of how a Muslim should
be. It will be optimistically expected of them to form an Islamic
nucleus in their communities.
v.
The project is free for all the girls accepted at the centre.
vi.
The entire project is financed by the Muslims of South Africa
through their donations to the organization.
vii.
We hope to start a Madressa for those in the area wanting to
become Muslims.
viii.
Once we have enough pupils to warrant the opening of a
Madressa, we will do so.
ix.
The behaviour and dressing of the girls have already
convinced some pupils at the school to become Muslims without having
to do Dawah work their behaviour and appearance did the work for
them.
x.
These children are receiving lessons from the centre at the
moment.
xi.
We have 36 girls there at the moment.

4.
FEEDING
a.
All pupils and adults attending classes are fed everyday.
b.
They are given food hampers to take home whenever available
especially during Ramadaan.
c.
They are given meat parcels regularly especially during
Qurbani.
5.
BLANKETS
a.
Blankets are distributed during winter months.
b.
Every pupil and every adult receives a blanket. Muslim
families around the Madaaris also receive blankets.
6.
RAMADAAN HAMPERS
Food hampers are given to the pupils and adults attending our
Madaaris during the month of Ramadaan when everybody is fasting. The
hamper contains enough food for the month for Iftaar (supper) and
for Sehri (Breakfast). This hamper is sufficient for an entire
family for one month.
Approximately 3000 hampers are made before Ramadaan. These
hampers are not only given to the pupils and the parents attending
Madressa but the poor families in the surrounding areas. Families
actually wait for these hampers during this period.
7.
MEAT HAMPERS
Approximately 2000 meat hampers are made after Qurbani. These
hampers are not only given to the pupils and the parents attending
Madressa but the poor families in the surrounding areas. Families
actually wait for these hampers during this period.
8.
CLOTHING
Lillah and Zakaat clothing are issued to our students at regular
intervals. This process is helping us clothe them in conformity with
Islaam.
9.
HOUSING
v
We assist families, both Muslim and Non-Muslim to re-build their
homes after it has been destroyed by fire, water etc.
v
We also help our students when they are in dire need of housing. As
an example we helped build a shack for a woman who was living alone
in a drum.
v
We also help those who have leaking roofs, broken zincs etc build
their homes properly.
10.
BURIALS
We have assisted, with the help of Saaberie Chisty, to provide
funeral arrangements for any of our students or their families (who
are Muslim). The entire funeral cost is borne by the organization.
11.
FINANCING
The financing of the entire project, i.e. the books, the
feeding, the hampers, clothing, salaries (the management of the
entire Madressa system) etc. are effected by the Muslim community of
South Africa. Regular donors, though small in amount but great in
numbers, are responsible for maintaining this project.
12.
BURSARIES
Bursaries are also given to students who perform well.
Although there may not be many at this stage, we envisage that the
amount of students that will be seeking bursaries will increase in
the future. Our centres in Perdekop (for girls) and Modjadji (for
boys) will have boarding students who want to progress both in
religious and secular education and live in an Islamic atmosphere.
They will attend school, stay at the centre under the supervision of
an administrator and assistants and will, after having passed grade
12, attend a tertiary institution of their choice following the
career of their choice. All this will be sponsored by the Muslims of
South Africa.
13.
JALSA
Every Madressa is required to have a Jalsa at
least once a year. The parents and the Muslims in the surrounding
areas are invited to attend and are given refreshments. In this way
we are encouraging the Muslims to show that they are Muslims and
also to try and propagate Islaam amongst the people by showing them
what Islaam is all about.

14.
PUPILS ATTENDING ADVANCE COURSES
IN ISLAAM
We are trying to find out what happened to the
pupils who left the Madressa after having completed the course. We
know that some of them are attending Darul Ulooms in Newcastle to
become Alims. We know of at least two that are Hafez Al Quraan and
at least one that studied in Medina Saudi Arabia. All these pupils
were Christians before they started attending our Madressa. We also
have 60 pupils at centres in Durban and Estcourt.
a. NAMES OF SOME STUDENTS STUDYING AT DARUL

SKILLS TRAINING AT MADAARIS
It is our intention to introduce skills training
at all our Madaaris. This is difficult because of the crime and the
possibility that the equipment will be stolen from the centres. We
will, however, try our best to secure the centres and introduce the
skills training sewing for the elderly ladies and computer
literacy for the pupils.
16.
HAFEZ CLASSES AT MADAARIS
We intend instituting Hafez classes at our Madaaris as soon as we
can get some students who want to become Hafez. Some of our students
are attending Hafez classes at other institutions.
17.
IN SERVICE TRAINING
Our teachers receive regular in-service training.
Once a month during the term and three days during the holidays.
Most of our female teachers started their Islamic
education at our own Madaaris. Most of them were from Christian
background and are now teaching Islam and doing Dawah work in their
communities. We have a few male teachers from our Madaaris but the
majority is either from Malawi or from Mozambique.
18.
FIRST AID TRAINING
Our staff received first aid training and has received certificates
after having passed the test.
19.
CENTRALIZED ADMISSION REGISTER
To accommodate our desire to know what is
happening to our pupils, we have started a centralized register for
all our Madaaris. All pupils from all our Madaaris will now be
registered and given an admission number from the office. We hope
then to follow their progress throughout their educational careers.
